Escalation of Conflict in Lebanon

Doctors Worldwide is deeply concerned with the rapid escalation of conflict and displacement in Lebanon. The death toll continues to rise over 600, with recent UN data highlighting at least 90,530 newly displaced people, in addition to the nearly 112,000 uprooted since October 2023 (UN News). Amongst them, the IOM reports ~40,000 people staying in more than 200 collective shelters (UNOCHA). The health system is already fragmented and further focus on resilience building and emergency and primary care is needed to absorb this new state of affairs. We are continuing to engage stakeholders to reinforce the health system, as well as monitoring the situation in order to identify any opportunity for support.
