Be The Change

For Climate Change

Every 13 seconds, a child dies from hunger.

Provide food. Save lives.

£30 per month = 1 litre of milk for a baby

£40 per month = food for a family of 3

£55 per month = food for a family of 6

Did you know that between 2030 and 2050, climate change is expected to cause approximately 250,00 additional deaths per year, from malnutrition and malaria, to diarrhoea and heat stress.

Moreover, climate-sensitive health risks (lack of access to healthcare and social support structures) are disproportionately felt by the most vulnerable communities across the globe, who significantly also contribute the least to the many major environmental issues we face today (WHO).

At Doctors Worldwide, much of our current work supports communities in need to tackle health challenges exacerbated by our climate crisis.

Emergency resources such as malaria tablets at low stock in rural clinics, food and milk for under-nourished children and individuals, and rehydration drink sachets for diarrhoea are all provided to the most vulnerable individuals we support, via our Life Saving Fund, holistic Palliative Care programme, Pakistan Project and Nutrition programmes.

Nutrition Programme: Pakistan

We provide meals for 100+ people per day at the DWW Hospital for the most vulnerable patients, as well as widows, children and families living in dire poverty who are unable to access adequate nutrition and experience health issues as a result. Lack of adequate nutrition also contributes to the biggest killer of children globally and in Pakistan - pneumonia. The environmental and sustainable approach of the canteen also means that there is zero waste, zero plastic bags and reusable utensils and cutlery, thus contributing to the overall climate impact and environment they live in.

Life Saving Fund: Global

When providing healthcare for the most vulnerable people in the poorest parts of the world, there is often a variety of healthcare needs that require a funding source without any restrictions or delays, such as a need for emergency transport, medication, food or birthing packs for mothers. Your support & donation to our Life Saving Fund ensures that no patient is turned away, and continues to add value and impact to all of our healthcare projects.

Nutrition Programme: Rwanda

We are working with one of the main clinics in Kigali to provide one litre of milk every day to all the babies, children and adults that are clinically diagnosed with malnutrition, as well as developing a tailored package of care including a monthly food pack for a whole family. We are also providing patients or key family members with the means to access vocational courses for as little as £15 in order to help sustain themselves.
